THE FOURTH DIALOGUE DAY IN MAASTRICHT
On behalf of the foundation ‘Maastricht in Dialoog’ it is my pleasure to invite you to the fourth
Dialogue Day in Maastricht on November 3rd, 2010. A wonderful initiative that started in 2001 in Rotterdam. The basic idea is to bring people together around one single theme and to have a space (table and time) for sharing positive experiences and personal dreams. No debating, no opinions, just your own experiences and dreams.
EU- region
New this year in Maastricht is the ambition to involve people in the Meuse-Rhine Eu-region.
As a start we invite you, as citizens of Hasselt, Liege and Aachen, to join the dialogue tables in Maastricht in “the Gouvernement”. In 2011 and 2012 citizens from surrounding cities and countries hopefully can be mixed also at dialogue tables in your cities as well.
THE DIALOGUE DAY SUMMARIZED.
During the Dialogue Day, residents of Maastricht talk to each other at a dialogue table ( with nibbles or sometimes a meal) about a central theme. The central theme last year was “exploring borders” and in 2008 “change”. This year the topic is “ Inclusiveness” / “belonging ”. The six to eight participants at the table exchange during two to three hours their personal experiences, led by atrained facilitator. Next to social cohesion the dialogue can also touch upon what they can contributeto their town.

We’ll do our best to fulfill all wishes but we cannot promise yet that we can realize a French and a German table. All depends on the amount of French and German speaking participants and facilitators.

The dialogue tables are spread across town. They can be found at the market, in church, at the town hall, at schools, banks, in supermarkets, at home etc. The Dialogue Day is for everyone, working or not working, young or old, immigrant or native, schoolboy/-girl or taxi driver, imam or mayor. This diversity is what makes these talks so interesting and educational. The meeting and the talks are the Dialogue day’s main objective.
